We have been shipping motorcycles for decades and have a great deal of experience booking motorcycle shipments with various motorcycle specific shippers who handle the scheduling of these shipments. The process for scheduling your shipment is straightforward and uncomplicated in most cases.
Customers contact us through our website quote request form and in some cases contact us by phone for rate quotes and scheduling information. We provide very detailed information in our email rate quotes and we usually have more than one shipping option for customers to consider. Some motorcycle shippers offer more insurance coverage than others do, some offer faster time frames than other shippers do, some utilize a pallet to ship motorcycles on and some utilize a roll-on roll-off method of motorcycle shipping.
When customers receive our detailed email quote with information regarding the price, the method of shipping and the schedule estimate they contact us for additional information or to book their shipment. Most questions are answered in our detailed email quote but some customers do have additional questions and often those questions are related to the pick up and delivery time frames for the available options. We do list a pick up and delivery estimate for each shipping option that we offer and in most cases the shippers that we work with pick up and deliver within those estimated time frames. What customers need to understand is that motorcycle transport is far from a perfect science regarding scheduling. There are many factors that have an influence on both the pick up and delivery schedule. Some factors include the origin and destination locations, the distance from pick up to delivery, the type of vehicle being shipped and many other possible factors.
All the shippers we work with require us to quote their pick up and delivery time frames as estimated time frames not guaranteed time frames. As mentioned above, there are many factors that can have an impact on the pick up and delivery schedule for a given shipment. Mechanical issues can have an impact on schedules, DOT driving limits can have an impact on schedules, the health of the driver can have an impact on the schedule, road conditions and weather conditions can also have an impact on the schedule for both pick up and delivery in some cases. In general, the more trucks a given shipper has on the road usually equates to a faster pick-up and delivery time frame than shippers who have fewer trucks but not in all cases. Large shippers often have hubs or terminals around the country and in most cases they will pick up the bike and bring it back to at least one of their hubs or terminals and the vehicle will change trucks and be delivered on a different truck than it was picked up on. This is common but not always the case. With smaller shippers the vehicle being shipped usually stays on the same truck the entire shipment. The vehicle being shipped can possibly be loaded and unloaded on and off the truck while it’s in transit in order to get other vehicles on and off their truck while the shipment is in flow. The main thing to remember when shipping a motorcycle is to be as flexible as possible with both the pick up and the delivery time frame because of all the variables that can affect a motorcycle shippers schedule.
