Here are some interesting facts to know about the state of Nevada. Nevada became a state in 1864 and was the 36th state. The capitol of Nevada is Carson City. The populationi is approximately 2.8 million and the largest city in Nevada is Las Vegas. The largest industries in Nevada are tourism, mining (both gold and silver) and hydro electric power, primarily from the Hoover Dam. The state bird is the Mountain Bluebird and the state animal is the Desert Bighorn Sheep. The bordering states to Nevada are Arizona, California, Idaho, Oregon and Utah. The states name Nevada, comes from the Spanish word for “snowcapped.”
In addition to the awesome array of talented entertainers that perform at the various hotels along the Las Vegas Strip, there are other talented people in the Las Vegas metro area from time to time. Twice a year Las Vegas hosts major Supercross races. The top riders from around the world participate in these races.
The final round of the Supercross motorcycle racing series is held at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas Nevada. Many championships have been won or lost at this final race of the Supercross season in Las Vegas. The track is usually very unique and most of the time goes outside of the stadium and then back into the stadium on the other side. There are numerous obstacles and some very high-speed sections on the track.
The Monster Energy Cup Supercross race is also held at Sam Boyd Stadium in October each year. This is a special one-off race that has a $1,000,000 prize for the winner. The race is comprised of three separate 10 lap motos and if a rider wins all three motos they walk away with the million-dollar prize. Two Riders have accomplished this feat in the past, Ryan Villopoto and Marvin Musquin.
