There are a number of simple steps to go through when shipping a motorcycle with us. Our process has been refined over decades and we make it as easy as possible for you to ship your motorcycle. The first step in the process is to contact us with your quote request. The quote request usually involves providing the origin city, state and or zip code along with the destination city, state and or zip code. We also need to know the year, make and model of the vehicle that you will be shipping. If you are submitting your booking form at our website request a quote form we will also need your email address in order to provide you with a detailed rate quote. There are some optional fields on our quote request form such as your name and phone number as well.
After you submit your free motorcycle transport quote request we will create a detailed quote for your specific shipment and usually provide a number of different shipping options for you to consider. The rates, time frames, methods, insurance coverage, prep requirements, etc. will vary from one option to another. We recommend that you review our very detailed quotes prior to making your final decision on which option you select to transport a motorcycle.
If you have any questions or you are ready to proceed with booking your motorcycle shipment, we recommend that you give us a call to go over the quote in further detail and or to book your shipment. The booking process is very simple. We start the booking process by taking a credit or debit card for the down payment noted in the quote. The down payment amount is deducted from the total rate and the shipping company that we refer you to will collect the remaining balance less the down payment that we collect.
When we have the down payment in place we will send you an email with the shipping company contact information and we will also copy you on the booking confirmation email that we send directly to the shipper that you select. Some shippers have their own booking forms for you to fill out with all of your shipment details. If that is the case the shipper will provide you with either a link or a downloadable form to fill out with all of your pick up, delivery and bike information. When you complete the booking form and submit it into the shipper they will begin the scheduling process.
The motorcycle shipper will take your shipment details and develop a preliminary schedule for both the pick up and the delivery. They will usually provide you with a range of days when they are likely to be at each location. The normal process is for them to call your point of contact within 24 hours of the actual arrival and they usually call about an hour prior to arrival as well. The shippers we work with have been very good in the past with providing you with adequate time to be available to meet their driver.
When the motorcycle transporter arrives they usually perform a visual inspection on the bike and note any obvious visual defects on their inspection form. They will usually also have a bill of lading for you to sign on both ends also.
In most cases, the driver does the loading and unloading and they will either have a lift gate or a ramp gate on their trucks. Some shippers and some vehicles will require able-bodied assistance on both ends to help the driver load and unload the vehicle. Depending on the shipping option you select, some shippers collect the remaining balance when they set up the schedule, some collect half the balance when they set up the schedule and the remaining half at delivery and some shippers collect the remaining balance in full at delivery.
