It is that time of year again when motorcycle riders get their bikes ready for the spring and summer riding seasons. Many riders like to kick off the riding season by attending Daytona Bike Week and finish off the riding season by attending the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.
Last year the world was hit with the China virus pandemic and that put a crimp in rally attendance. This year is shaping up for much greater attendance at both Daytona and Sturgis. People are more knowledgeable about how to handle the virus safely and are willing to get out on their bikes and attend rallies more so than last year.
We always advise getting your bike repaired and in good maintenance prior to shipping to a rally. You don’t want to be stuck repairing your bike instead of riding your bike while you are at a rally. Routine maintenance such as changing the oil, cleaning your air filters and adjusting your chain or belt are the minimum maintenance items you should be concerned with. A full tune up is advised if you haven’t had one lately.
If you decide you need to utilize our motorcycle shipping services to transport a motorcycle to and from the rallies we advise shutting your gas off and disarming alarm systems if your bike is so equipped. You might want to consider disconnecting the battery while it’s in transit to make sure the battery is not drained when it arrives at the rally. Our shippers will have a liftgate, tie-downs and some use pallets that they mount the bikes on. You do not need to provide any of the logistics equipment for shipping because the shippers we work with have everything they need to load and secure your bikes properly.
Some shippers arrived at the rally the day before it starts and leave the day after it ends. Some shippers will need to deliver the bikes ahead of time, possibly a week or two prior to the rally and possibly need to pick up a week or two after the rally because they do not keep their trucks at the rally. You will need to find a location for delivery and pick up such as a motorcycle shop in this case. The shippers that do keep their trucks at the rally usually set up in a local hotel parking lot throughout the rally and that way you can retrieve your bike from where they have their truck staged and you can drop it back off there when you are finished with your riding and ready to return home. The shippers we work with have been servicing the Daytona Bike Week rally and the Sturgis Rally for many years. They have a wealth of knowledge of how to attend the rally and get the most out of your time at the rally. They take the worry and the effort out of getting your bike to and from the rally and you can rest assured they are good at handling your bike while they have it in their possession.
