Many customers have had concerns about shipping motorcycles during the Coronavirus pandemic. Fortunately, the virus has only had a minor impact on the motorcycle shipping industry. All the shippers we work with have continued to operate and in some cases have not seen much of a drop in the quantities of motorcycles they regularly transport.
There are a number of industries that have been severely affected by the Coronavirus pandemic. Companies in the restaurant and entertainment industries, many retailers and companies in the travel industry such as cruise ships and airlines have had a difficult time during the pandemic. Since motorcycle transport requires very limited amount of personal contact we have been able to find ways to continue to operate at a high level throughout the pandemic. Additionally, the pick up and delivery time frames for most motorcycle shippers have been holding fairly steady with the time frames they were normally estimating prior to when the Coronavirus pandemic shut-down began.
Thankfully, most companies in the transportation industry were deemed essential services and have only had limited impact from the Coronavirus pandemic. Even though the Coronavirus has had minimal impact on the motorcycle shipping industry, the shippers we work with are taking the necessary precautions outlined in the CDC guidelines.
Some shippers have made the decision to not service certain Coronavirus hotspots such as the New York City metro area, the San Francisco metro area, the Miami metro area and the New Orleans metro area. All of these locations had experienced elevated levels of Coronavirus and some shippers did not want to risk having their drivers be exposed to the virus in these particular areas.
Fortunately, most motorcycle transport companies continued to operate in these virus hotspot areas throughout the Coronavirus pandemic and took the necessary precautions to avoid contact with anyone who might be infected by the virus. Even the shippers who were not servicing the Coronavirus hotspot areas are now servicing those areas once again and continue to service motorcycle shipping customers throughout the remainder of the continental United States.
Some of the steps the shippers we work with have incorporated include the social distancing rules that we have all been living with throughout the Coronavirus pandemic. The company dispatcher or the driver will usually call the point of contact at the pick up or delivery location ahead of their arrival and ask that the bike be made available to the driver in an accessible location that only requires minimal contact with the person at the pick up and delivery location. Additionally, the drivers have been regularly cleaning and disinfecting their tie-downs, lift gates, pallet jack’s, etc. that they use to load and secure the bike in their trailer. An interesting fact is that many of the motorcycle dealers we work with have seen their sales levels increase throughout the virus pandemic. Most motorcycle dealers are offering special pricing during the pandemic so there are a lot of good deals on motorcycles currently. If you happen to find a good deal on a motorcycle and it is too far from your location to pick up the bike yourself, we can help. We can ship motorcycles from or to almost anywhere in the continental United States and have very competitive rate.
